About the European Glycoscience Community

The EGC team has successfully established a European network that unites all the disciplines within the glycosciences field. This, in contrast to local networks that usually only connect one or several countries and/or only focus on one of the disciplines within glycosciences.

Through bi-monthly webinars, collaborations with glycoscience communities on other continents and active social media presence, the EGC created a much-needed platform where researchers can connect to the European and global community.

A cornerstone in the establishment of the EGC was to create a network which was autonomous, and independent of short-term funding streams which often lead to network collapse on completion of grants. The international, enthusiastic and young EGC team is working towards establishing the EGC as a non-profit international organisation with broad European reach and which is sustainably organized to ensure long-term interdisciplinary and European glycoscientific exchange of tools and knowledge.
